Steward Health Care Network Physicians of Greater Norwood Named to Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Honor Roll

Harvard Pilgrim Health Care named physicians affiliated with Norwood Hospital to their annual Honor Roll for 2014, indicating their commitment to high quality healthcare. The Steward Health Care Network (SHCN) Greater Norwood Chapter physician group earned this designation based upon their performance against national quality benchmarks in acute care, chronic care and preventative care.

Harvard Pilgrim Health Care’s honor roll methodology compares actual physician group performance to the national level performance using the Health Plan Employer Data and Information Set (HEDIS), a tool used to assess the clinical performance of doctors and other medical professionals. Physician groups earn points if their score is better than that of the 75th and 90th percentile. The data examined includes performance of both adult and pediatric patients in areas such as treatment of upper respiratory infections and lower back pain, ongoing care of diabetes and asthma, and preventative care such as cancer screenings and well visits.

“We are proud of the exceptional care provided by the Steward Health Care Network of physicians, here in Norwood, and our surrounding communities,” said Emily Holliman, president of Norwood Hospital. “Our patients are receiving outstanding medical care, ranked nationally among the best, right here in their hometowns.”

Steward Health Care Network (SHCN), the second largest physician network in Massachusetts, provides care to more than one million patients annually. SHCN’s Greater Norwood Local Chapter is comprised of 46 primary care providers and more than 200 specialists in 26 areas of medical expertise. The Chapter serves the entire Greater Norwood region, including Canton, Walpole, Attleboro, Foxboro, Sharon, Needham, Wrentham, and Dedham. SHCN operates on a community-based care model, and promotes care coordination and collaboration within the network in order to provide high quality, efficient care to patients.

“The award recognizes the high quality work being done by our primary care providers and performance teams, working together to improve quality of care as well as the overall patient experience,” said Dan Brown, M.D., Chief Medical Officer of Steward Health Care Network , Greater Norwood Chapter.
