Norwood Hospital Nurse Deborah Schulz Honored at Cancer Event

Deborah Schulz, RN, BSN, OCN, of Norwood, was honored for “Excellence in Compassionate Care” at Norwood Hospital’s “Celebration of Life” event on June 5, at the hospital’s Cancer Center in Foxboro.

An oncology nurse at the hospital’s Cancer Center, Schulz was recognized for outstanding dedication and longtime service to patients and the community. “Debbie is a very dedicated nurse, who keeps up-to-date on all aspects of cancer care,” said Vinubhai Patel, MD, chief of Radiation Oncology at the Center. “She has touched the lives of so many patients and families in this room and in our community with her exceptional nursing care.”

Norwood Hospital President Emily Holliman and Lori Adcock, MD, chair of the hospital’s Multidisciplinary Cancer Committee, welcomed more than 75 guests to the event. Keynote speaker Carol Vasconcellos, MD, chief of Hematology and Oncology, spoke movingly of the advances in cancer care from past to present and recalled the pivotal contributions made locally by Pondville and Southwood Hospitals.

The annual Celebration of Life brought together patients, family members, physicians and staff for an evening of socializing, reflection and relaxation at Norwood Hospital’s Cancer Center located at 70 Walnut Street in Foxboro. The American Cancer Society also sponsored healthy living information at the event.
