Norwood Hospital held a town-hall style meeting on Tuesday, 6 pm, June 11, 2013, in the Norwood High School dining hall that brought nearly 150 community members and hospital staff together for a two-way engagement with President Emily Holliman (left).

Guest speakers included orthopedic surgeon Mark Messineo, MD, cardiologist Paul Schwerdt, MD, and Boston Children’s Hospital physician Bruce Weinstock, MD, chief of Pediatrics at Norwood Hospital. Karen Gruskin, MD, also of Boston Children’s Hospital, spoke about Children’s Hospital’s physician affiliation with Norwood Hospital to provide pediatric emergency care, newborn care and specialty care locally.

“This was a wonderful opportunity for me to speak directly with our community members and importantly, hear from them about meeting their health care needs,” said Emily Holliman, president, Norwood Hospital. “Both the past and the future of the hospital are deeply ingrained in the communities we serve, and I look forward to continuing our conversation to help strengthen our quality services and the patient experience,” added Holliman.

The event was kicked off by Norwood High School Principal George Usevich and moderated by Steward Community Liaison Mary Richardson, former co-anchor of WCVB-TV’s Chronicle. Before and after the meeting, guests browsed tables with hospital information and enjoyed light refreshments and specially-baked cookies by the hospital’s Food Services Department.
